Abstract Scope |
Ag-Cu-Te ternary materials system holds significant importance in various fields. However, there is limited phase diagram information available for the entire compositional regime. This study conducted experimental measurements of the Ag-Cu-Te phase diagrams, including the isothermal section and liquidus projection. Ternary alloys were prepared. The phases were determined in the equilibrated alloys for the isothermal section determination. The primary solidification phases were determined in the as-quenched alloys for the liquidus projection. Unexpectedly, long Ag and Cu whiskers were found in Ag-Cu-Te alloys annealed at 400℃and 600℃. A liquid miscibility gap exists in this Ag-Cu-Te system, which is an extension of those in its binary constituent systems, Ag-Se and Ag-Te. Unique microstructures were observed when the alloys solidified while passing through a miscibility gap. It was found that the compositional regimes of the liquid miscibility gap of the Ag-Cu-Te ternary system overlapped with that of the whisker formation region. |
