Abstract Scope |
Ag2X-based materials have garnered considerable attention due to their intriguing liquid-like behavior during the phase transition to a high-temperature structure. Due to their complex crystal structure, low lattice thermal conductivity, exceptional ductility, and high charge carrier mobility, these materials exhibit tremendous potential as outstanding thermoelectric materials, particularly when combined with an Ag-excess chemical composition. However, those excess Ag contributes to fast diffusion silver ions fluxes under thermal or electric fields and are squeezed out due to the internal strains while undergoing the phase transition. The objective of this study is to uncover the mechanism behind the formation of silver whiskers and transform this disadvantage into an advantage through the implementation of laser-stimulated design. |
