Abstract Scope |
The exceptional liquid-like characteristics of Ag2X-based materials have recently attracted considerable attention. These materials display exceptional qualities as superionic conductors after a phase transition at high temperatures. Their intricate crystal structure, the low thermal conductivity of the lattice, impressive malleability, and high Mobility of charge carriers make them highly promising as outstanding thermoelectric materials. However, incorporating silver elements to enhance their thermoelectric properties, considering the superionic conductor nature of Ag2X, results in the significant growth of silver whiskers during measurements. These whiskers can disrupt the material's composition and compromise its thermal stability, potentially leading to a sharp decrease in conductivity and subsequent deterioration of thermoelectric properties. In this research, we suggest potential mechanisms that contribute to the formation of silver whiskers and strive to minimize their occurrence. |
