Abstract Scope |
An area of significant ongoing research focusses on materials with intrinsically low thermal conductivity suitable for a variety of technological applications, and especially for thermoelectric applications. Understanding the structural properties and chemical bonding in different materials and structure types is highly valuable, as it provides vital information for tuning the physical properties to suit various required properties for specific technological applications. Our combined experimental and theoretical investigations have afforded new insight into the structural, chemical bonding and thermal properties of several different material systems. By analyses and modeling of temperature-dependent thermal properties, as well as electronic structure and electron localization calculations, we provide new insight into the structure-thermal property relationships of several different materials that are of interest for thermoelectrics applications. |
