Abstract Scope |
The present study deals with inverse thermal analysis and parametric modeling of heat deposition associated with surface modification of metallic materials via an innovative technique based on Concentrated Solar Energy (CSE). The goal of this inverse thermal analysis is evaluation of temperature histories within the volume of workpieces undergoing this solar-heating process, where direct temperature measurements are not possible. Results of prototype inverse thermal analyses of heat transfer in processed layer-substrate systems are presented, demonstrating the general aspects of a parametric model for thermal analysis and simulation. These analyses consider a one-dimensional approximation of the solar heating process, which is inherently two-dimensional. |
