Abstract Scope |
Direct ink writing is a low cost, precise and sustainable additive manufacturing method for depositing disparate solutions (or inks) on substrates. In this talk we will discuss our latest work on the direct ink writing of graphene based inks for gas and water sensing applications. Our direct ink writing approach enables the deposition of films with arbitrary size and shape. We will be focusing on few layer graphene exfoliation, characterization, ink formulation and printing studies for gas/water sensor fabrication. Layer-by-layer deposition of graphene/ethyl cellulose (EC) solutions with appropriate rheology and the role of EC decomposition will be discussed. Partial EC decomposition leads to very interesting graphene flake 3D scaffolds that, in turn, provide increased surface area for sensing. |
