Abstract Scope |
A series of studies using a custom-automated LabVIEW controlled graphene growth method on 4 types of supported Cu films in a custom-modified multi-chamber UHV system transformed into a cold wall CVD system will be presented as part of this work. The controlled experimental approach allowed careful study of the effect of several growth parameters the effect of total flow rate, CH4:H2 ratio and dilution of the CH4/H2 mixture by Ar at a fixed substrate temperature, temperature gradient, chamber pressure and rapid thermal heating in C precursor-rich environment on graphene growth on Cu. A systematic, in-depth study of graphene growth elucidating 2D nucleation and growth mechanism with focus on island size distribution scaling functions in reducing vs non-reducing environment using industrially preferred cold wall CVD has potential to shed light on studies of other single layer 2D materials. |
