Abstract Scope |
Printing electronics offers a number of benefits for fabricating thin-film electronic sensors. Specifically, the technique allows for compatibility with flexible, large-area substrates. In this talk, I will describe the innovations developed in our lab to enable varied sensing applications with large-area functionality. First, I will describe our efforts to develop printable multi-parameter sensors for measuring soil nitrate, moisture, and temperature at varied depths. Next, I will discuss the optimization of interdigitated electrodes with overlaid soft elastomers for high-range pressure sensing with large active areas using single-sided electronic transducers. I will conclude with a discussion of the outlook and challenges related to using additive techniques for fabricating large-area sensing technologies. |
