Abstract Scope |
In the growing flexible hybrid electronic (FHE) market and wearable healthcare applications, additive manufacturing of two-dimensional nanomaterial devices offers tremendous potential. However, their scalability and printability are a major hold back of their rapid development. This work focuses on the scalable production of multiple 2D materials and formulation of nanomaterials into printable inks for a low-cost manufacturing of energy harvesters, supercapacitors, and multifunctional sensors using multiple printer modalities. Detailed ink characterization and process parameter optimizations were performed for commercial printer modalities including Ink Jet printers, Aerosol jet printers, and Plasma jet printers. For the printed films, extensive post-processing and device characterization studies were carried out using thermal as well as photonic sintering. Finally, multiple devices were fabricated and tested using scalable printing processes to create a functioning flexible hybrid electronic device. |
