Abstract Scope |
Flexible and printed electronics (FPE) is a fast-evolving field due to the demands generated by the Internet of Things (IoT) for the rapid fabrication of inexpensive devices and systems on flexible substrates such as plastic, paper, textile, thin metal foils, and others. The FPE production relies on simpler 2D printing equipment, which can print single or multilayers of porous, thin films with properties that vastly different from bulk. Measuring their thermal properties is critical to determine the circuit performance. Modulated photothermal radiometry is a non-contact technique that uses laser heating and thermal emission to spatially characterize thermal properties. Our work showcases the success of MPTR to measure the thermal conductivity of thin, porous films across multiple layers. Future work could allow in-operand measurements during the printing process. |
