Abstract Scope |
Aerosol jet printing (AJP) is a compelling technology for direct-write fabrication of electronic devices, offering high resolution, broad materials compatibility, and digital patterning with a high standoff distance. Compared to alternative technologies such as inkjet and gravure printing, it is often very straightforward to develop inks compatible with AJP. It is much more challenging, however, to develop ‘good’ inks and to understand why they print well. This talk will offer a perspective on ink formulation for AJP that draws heavily on underlying process science. Several case studies will illustrate efforts in nanomaterial ink development, the application of process monitoring tools to streamline design, and unique approaches to tailor AJP inks for specific applications in printed electronics. |
