Abstract Scope |
In this work, we used the new technique of Flash Crystallization to produce glass ceramics from the glass system Li2O-Al2O3-SiO2 (LAS) in a matter of seconds instead of hours like in the conventional methods. We applied different electric field and current density values directly to the bulk glass concomitant with furnace heating. The results show that the current density is related to the crystalline fraction and also to the material densification. The higher the current density value, the greater the amount of crystallized material and the greater the densification. The results show that Flash Crystallization can also be used to crystallize glass of the LAS system in a faster way, which can generate significant energy savings and reduce production costs for this material. |
