Abstract Scope |
To accompany recent trend of ultra-high frequency (UHF) technology, soft magnetic ferrites like Manganese-Zinc Ferrites (MZF) and Nickel-Zinc Ferrites (NZF) are prominent choices. Innovations in ferrite processing have recently been a priority to obtain denser material with improved performances. Here, electromagnetic (EM) field assisted processing plays a major role which converts the operating EM wave to heat loss in the material. This rapid heat-treatment procedure is 80% time-efficient and 25% less energy-consuming in comparison to conventional annealing method and eventually decreases UHF losses by controlling grain sizes. Microwave (MW) heating mechanisms depend on different material properties and involve Maxwell’s EM equations, EM wave propagation, and heat transportation phenomena in the materials. Moreover, single-mode MW processing can separate electric/magnetic field heating and is a more controlled mechanism. Hence, studying MW processing and its appropriate optimization for different shaped/sized MZF and NZF materials will lead to technical advancements in power magnetic applications. |
