Abstract Scope |
The focus of this research is to design a roadmap to establish a predictive model for the catchment efficiency in the laser cladding process. A deep understanding of heat transfer in the substrate and interaction of the power cloud with the laser beam is necessary to articulate a predictive model taking into consideration the dynamic variables of the system. The factors involving laser beam profile, size of laser spot, shape of powder cloud, divergence of powder cloud will be studied to understand the effects on catchment efficiency. The model is validated with experimental data in a 9 KW diode laser coupled with coaxial powder delivery methods. |
