Abstract Scope |
T-joint welding is widely used in the assembly process of automotive, track and other industries. The pores are easily formed in the weld during the aluminum alloy laser welding. A 3D numerical model for the laser T-joint welding of aluminum alloy is developed in this paper to improve the weld quality by adding elements. Both of the molten pool dynamic behaviors in the adding elements laser T-joint welding by and non-adding elements laser T-joint welding are analyzed in details by the numerical simulation results. It is found that the weld quality from the adding elements laser welding has been improved significantly. The characteristics of dynamic behaviors of molten pool under the condition of adding elements are obtained. The effects of elements on the molten pool during the adding elements laser T-joint welding are investigated. The improvement mechanism of elements in the laser T-joint welding of aluminum alloy is revealed. The simulation results are compared with the experimental results and good agreement between them is found. The proposed method is of great importance for improving the welding quality in the laser welding of aluminum alloy. |
