Abstract Scope |
Duplex stainless steels are used in many industry segments including, but not limited to; oil and gas, petrochemical, pulp and paper, and transportation. The use of duplex, lean duplex and super duplex stainless steels has continued to increase due to their mechanical properties and corrosion resistance.<br />While the welding of duplex stainless steels is not difficult, proper care must be taken to insure the austenite/ferrite balance is maintained. Filler metal selection, along with strict adherence to a qualified welding procedure are the first steps toward producing sound weldments. This presentation describes the dos and don'ts associated with the fabrication of duplex, lean duplex, and super duplex stainless steels. |
