Abstract Scope |
Friction stir additive manufacturing is relatively new additive manufacturing technology developed based on the fundamental of friction stir welding, which has a number of benefits compared to fusion additive manufacturing methods when a lighweight material such as Mg and Al alloy was applied. The macro/microstructure and mechanical performance of friction stir additive manufactured 2195 aluminum lithium alloy were systematacially investigated using experimental operation. To be more specific, role of the processing path on the microstrual development were examined using optical microscope and electron back-scattered diffraction, and the state and distribution of precipitates were investigated using transmission electron microscopy. The localized mechanical performance was systematacially evaluated in terms of hardness distribution and tensile strength. |
