Abstract Scope |
The deformation behaviours of alloys are critical to their application in aerospace, automotive, biomedical and nuclear industries. Here, this work mainly investigated the mechanical and microstructural behaviour of magnesium alloys at low and high temperatures for metal forming process. It also demonstrates a novel process to refine grains and weaken texture in Mg alloys, thus to achieve enhanced mechanical performances. The microstructure evolution including twinning, dislocation and recrystallisation is revealed with ex situ EBSD, and various thermal-mechanical testing is performed to investigate the corresponding mechanical performance. Furthermore, the microstructure evolution of steels is also investigated with in situ characterization to reveal the deformation mechanisms. The microstructure and plasticity mechanisms discovered here can guide to develop a novel manufacturing strategy for high-performance components. |
