On-Site Speaker (Planned) Leila Ladani
Abstract Scope Additive manufacturing is a relatively new manufacturing technology. However, it is one of the most popular technologies used by many industries. Given the nature of the technology that is still in early development, there is a lack of consistent and uniform set of textbooks for educating the next generation of engineers and scientists. Many books have been published; however, most books focus on research and development. The fundamentals of additive manufacturing still require to be structured in a set of teaching materials that can provide the knowledgebase that is needed for engineering and science students. Additionally, curriculum modifications may be needed to accommodate this addition. In this talk, we focus on the development of the new course along with a textbook, modification of the current mechanical engineering curriculum and addition of hands on, experiential learning approaches that have been used to prepare students for becoming leaders in this area.
