Meeting 2024 TMS Annual Meeting & Exhibition
Symposium Incorporating Additive Manufacturing in Material Science and Engineering Education (2024 Student-led Symposium)
Presentation Title Additive Manufacturing at Central State University
Author(s) Saleh Almestiri
On-Site Speaker (Planned) Saleh Almestiri
Abstract Scope 3D printing processes (additive manufacturing, AM) are increasingly becoming a part of the industrial production chain. The Manufacturing Engineering Department at Central State University (CSU) has realized the importance of being involved in additive manufacturing. The department has sought to incorporate this new technology into the curriculum and launch productive research to develop a better understanding of the available techniques and the properties of additive parts. The additive manufacturing laboratory at CSU has capabilities to produce metal and plastic parts for research and educational purposes. In addition, the AM lab also includes a 3D scanner for reverse engineering. Reverse engineering and 3D printing together can be used to manufacture new parts or reproduce parts with or without 3D solid models. In this talk, I will share with you where CSU stands in relation to AM teaching and research.
Proceedings Inclusion? Planned:
Keywords Additive Manufacturing, Characterization, Joining
