Abstract Scope |
Over the last two decades, research and development in Additive Manufacturing (AM) has helped advance technologies in many fields including medicine, aerospace, and energy. Beyond these fields AM has the potential to create affordable housing in low-income areas and provide high-paying, skilled jobs. The continued global growth of AM requires a workforce proficient in skills needed to expand processing strategies and materials development. Academic institutions are beginning to integrate the fundamental concepts of AM into engineering curriculums across the world but as the demand for AM increases organizations must create pathways to AM careers to underserved and marginalized communities. This presentation will focus on methods to provide resources and training needed for building sustainable pipeline to careers in advanced manufacturing. Specifically, how population and education trends across the world have a role in the AM workforce. |
