Abstract Scope With the increase in life expectancy, the demand for implants is increasing. Titanium has become famous for its use as a biomaterial due to its excellent combination of mechanical strength, elastic modulus, and biocompatibility. Molybdenum increases the material's mechanical strength and is one of the most popular elements for forming β-type alloys. Manganese increases corrosion resistance, decreases the modulus of elasticity, has good biocompatibility, and has a low cost compared to molybdenum. The present paper aimed to prepare alloys of the Ti-10Mo-Mn system and to analyze the influence of the substitutional element in the structure, microstructure, some mechanical properties, and its cytotoxic nature. The alloys showed a metastable β crystalline structure, obtaining the β, α and α" phases depending on the concentration of the alloying elements and the processing conditions. No deleterious effects on cell viability with osteoblastic cells in all alloys. (Financial Support: Capes, CNPq and FAPESP).
