Abstract Scope |
The process to recover lead (Pb) from automotive batteries using rotary furnaces is widely known worldwide. While scraps and other feedstocks are become more and more expensive, new technologies must be developed to keep the process costs as lower as possible. A common rotary furnace has a fuel consumption about 600-900 kWh per ton o Pb bullion. Thinking out to overcome those costs, improve the process control and become more efficient, Linde had been deployed theirs Image Analysis System - OPTIVIEW tm into a Rotary Furnace process, aiming take advantage of alternative fuels and all excess of CO coming from the scrap load. The system was implemented reaching a specific fuel consumption of 300 kWh per ton Pb, reducing the oxygen consumption, increasing the throughput and controlling the emissions for a lead recovery plant from automotive batteries. |
