Abstract Scope |
In Pyrometallurgy a central parameter in the optimization and control of the process is the temperature. Conventional techniques for measuring temperature in metallurgical furnaces are pyrometers and thermocouples. The new technologies are more dynamic processes such as Ausmelt or Kivcet require a continuous and precise measurement but also a high spatial resolution (more measurement points). Continuous measurement will help in controlling the temperature of the slag, metal, and gases. Experimental tests were carried out using fiber optics in a laboratory furnace to obtain the external temperature profile of the furnace and by heat transfer the internal temperature profile, simulating operating conditions that can occur in the industry. The optical fiber wrapped around the oven to measure the temperature at every meter per minute and with the Python program measurements were acquired every 10cm. The results help optimize the operation and reduce furnace downtime. |
