Abstract Scope |
By defining new parameterizations in the approximate surface equation of the IWP Triply Periodic Minimal Surface (TPMS), volume can be redistributed within the lattice unit cell independent of volume fraction. This redistribution allows unit cell properties to be tailored for a specific load case prior to design implementation. The Borg Multi-objective Evolutionary Algorithm is used to tailor the IWP exo-skeletal lattice under different loading conditions. The performance of the Pareto optimal designs and the efficacy of the approach are shown by comparing to the standard IWP lattice and three variations on the BCC lattice which share the same topology. The optimized designs are implemented and shared in custom nTopology blocks. The presented optimization approach can be applied to other TPMS-based lattice structures. |
