Abstract Scope |
Alloy 400, a NiCu-based alloy also referred to as Monel 400, is a widely used material being known for its excellent corrosive resistance. Within the chemical industry and in contrast to conventional manufacturing processes, Laser Powder Bed Fusion (LPBF) of Alloy 400 opens up for functional components that withstand harsh environments. On the basis of a holistic process route, the present work focusses on modifying the chemical composition of the base material in order to allow the formation of nanoparticles during powder production. Parameter finding for gas atomization and LPBF is carried out and the microstructure of both powders and parts is examined. Reinforced parts are then expected to result in superior mechanical properties due to nano-scaled precipitation formation. This way, a conclusion on the effectiveness of nanoparticle integration into the material can be drawn. |
