Abstract Scope |
Additive manufacturing enables the production of complex lightweight components. Therefore, materials with high strength and low density are required. The high-strength EN AW 7075 frequently used for lightweight structures is not suitable for the laser powder bed process (PBF-LB) due to its poor weldability. Some investigations show that the mechanical properties of AlSi10Mg, which is most commonly used in PBF-LB, can be improved by adding TiC nanoparticles. The aim of this study is to determine the influence of different amounts of TiC addition on the mechanical properties to complement existing publications. To investigate this, two batches with different TiC content are mixed in a tumbling mixer. By varying the process parameters, optimized parameter sets for both batches are derived. The tensile strength and the hardness are analyzed and compared with pure AlSi10Mg. The results are correlated with the different microstructures. |
