Abstract Scope |
Recently, Cu2ZnSnS4 (CZTS) has evolved as a very promising absorber material for thin film solar cells. The low cost, environmental harmless and earth abundant constituents of Cu2ZnSnS4 (CZTS) possesses promising characteristic optical properties. While hydrazine based solution processed films have yielded the highest efficiency of ~12.6%, the toxic and carcinogenic nature of hydrazine offsets the advantages. In the context of on-going worldwide research on solution based processing, sulfurization process has been found to be crucial to efficient device performance. In this work, we have prepared phase pure kesterite CZTS thin films of appropriate thickness by chemical bath deposition technique from ethanol-based precursor solution followed by sulfurization at 500 °C. The films were characterized by a variety of techniques. The sulfurization process dependant growth of CZTS thin films was studied. |
