Abstract Scope Our research focuses on addressing the urgent need for effective and sustainable solutions for the removal of environmental pollutants in soil, water, and air. To tackle this challenge, we have developed a mesoporous silica material with a unique yolk-shell morphology, which can effectively capture large biomolecules and pollutants through a combination of size exclusion and chemical adsorption. The material has demonstrated exceptional removal efficiency for various types of pollutants, including heavy metals and organic compounds, in contaminated water and soil samples. Furthermore, our material shows promising potential for air pollution control applications, where it can efficiently capture and remove particulate matter and volatile organic compounds. This approach offers a sustainable and cost-effective solution for addressing the increasing problem of environmental pollution. We believe that our research will contribute to the development of new and effective materials for environmental remediation and protection.
