Abstract Scope |
Calcium molybdate has useful luminescence properties that have led to numerous applications in photoluminescent devices, phosphors, scintillators and laser materials. Its electronic properties have lent themselves to utilization in microwave materials, while its chemical properties have found use in stainless steel production, catalysis, corrosion inhibition, and as a flame retardant in polymers and textiles. Its optical properties have been utilized in pigments including the anticorrosion pigments. Water-soluble single source precursors for CaMoO4 have, prepared from the reaction of calcium gluconate or calcium 2-hydroxyisobutyrate with molybdenum trioxide. The water-soluble products are readily processible and provide a low temperature pathway to calcium molybdate. Furthermore, calcium molybdenyl gluconate is also an effective green flame retardant |
