Abstract Scope |
Cu2ZnSnS4 (CZTS) has emerged as a potential absorber layer in inorganic thin film solar cells due to favorable opto-electronic properties. In addition, its earth abundant non-toxic constituents promise the development of cost-effective solar cells compared to the more matured CuInGaSe2 and CdTe thin film based ones. It has been observed that selenium alloying with CZTS (i.e., the formation of CZTSSe) helps in obtaining higher efficiency (12.6 % efficiency for CZTSSe compared to 11.03% for CZTS). In this work, we have grown CZTSSe thin films using ethanol based molecular precursor solution and investigated evolution of various properties of the films by systematically varying the selenization parameters and the underlying mechanism of the same has been established. The results present a facile deposition route to prepare single phase CZTSSe thin films of uniform microstructure using an environmental-friendly solutions. |
