Abstract Scope |
In this talk, we will present the results on the reduction kinetics of hematite (Fe2O3) powders in a hydrogen plasma using a tungsten inert gas (TIG) welding torch with Ar + 2% H2 shielding gas. The study employed a combination of microscopy and electron diffraction techniques. We will discuss potential mechanisms for the observed reduction kinetics of hematite powders and quantitatively compare them with kinetics data from the literature that utilize hydrogen-based reduction techniques. Additionally, we will discuss the implications of using hematite powders in the manufacturing of carbon-neutral iron and steel. |
