Abstract Scope |
Fused Filament Fabrication (FFF) offers an excellent low-cost entry point for metal additive manufacturing (AM) users, making it more accessible than ever. Although, there are multi processes to metal FFF i.e. printing, debinding and sintering, it is becoming an increasingly popular form of metal AM for functional parts. This paper will present the experimental characterisation of 316L stainless steel FFF components and compare the results to other AM processes, offering a detailed material characterisation of the FFF process. Characteristics include surface roughness, part density, mechanical properties and wear properties. This will be key for potential users of metal FFF to understand the qualities of 316L stainless steel manufactured by FFF. |
