Abstract Scope |
A program called Low Energy Electronic Systems (LEES) was launched in MIT’s Research Enterprise in Singapore (SMART) in 2011. The goal was to solve research problems related to true monolithic integration of active device thin films into silicon integrated circuit manufacturing and create new commercial paths for the silicon semiconductor industry. Using fundamental innovation process principles, academic teams interacting with outside supply chains and potential customers were able to solve the key research problems and converge on timely market applications and a manufacturing supply chain to seed the beginning of commercialization. An innovative company was born and is now the market leader in the manufacture and design of monolithic silicon integrated circuits containing III-V devices. |
