Abstract Scope |
This study explores the cellular engineering of additively manufactured heterostructured metallic materials, examining the microstructural evolution, thermal history, and mechanical properties of various alloys produced by AM. We reveal a fine cellular dendrite structure with particles at cell boundaries, enhancing yield strength and ductility. A multi-scale constitutive model is developed, integrating crystal plasticity and dislocation density-based hardening. The model effectively simulates mechanical responses, including hardening and softening phenomena. Through experiments and simulations, we identify key mechanisms behind the enhanced strength and ductility in additively manufactured alloys. This comprehensive study provides insights into optimizing process parameters and material properties, advancing the field of additive manufacturing.
