Abstract Scope Understanding the intricate dynamics of weld bead deposition and evolution in the Wire Arc Direct Energy Deposition (Wire Arc DED) process is essential for improving efficiency and product quality. This presentation explores utilizing advanced high-speed imaging techniques to capture the Wire Arc DED process in real time. The phenomena captured at these exceptionally high frame rates uncover the fundamental mechanisms that govern weld bead deposition and evolution. The comprehensive analysis of the recorded data elucidates the interplay between processing parameters, material deposition, defect generation, and morphological changes during welding. Insights from this study promise to optimize process parameters, mitigate defects through feedback control, and advance the capabilities of Wire Arc DED technology for diverse applications.
