Abstract Scope |
Low Carbon Ferro Alloys are used as alloying elements in steel making. Chemistry of Low Carbon Ferro Alloys determines chemistry and properties of steel. It is thus extremely important to test for size and chemistry.
The standard method of preparing powder samples for chemical analysis uses Impact Jaw Crushers followed by Vibratory Cup Mills, to break the Low Carbon Ferro Alloy lumps for subsequent chemical analysis (size needed -100 mesh/150 micron)
Low Carbon Ferro Alloys being extremely hard and very ductile (due to its low carbon content) crushing using impact crushers is extremely difficult. takes long time, reduces life of equipment.
The invention is an easy method for sizing hard to crush materials by modifying its mechanical properties by embrittling of BCC materials. It allows easy crushing and grinding of such materials without contamination – thus maintaining the representativeness of the sample. The invention is being patented. |
