Abstract Scope |
The evolution of inclusions in low carbon Al killed steel produced by LF refining under calcium-free treatment was studied in industry and laboratory. The results show that: under the influence of CaO in refining slag, the inclusions in molten steel still change from Al2O3→MgO-Al2O3→CaO-MgO-Al2O3→CaO-Al2O3, however the transformation was not complete. The proportion of MgO-Al2O3 system inclusions in the molten steel was still more than 40%, which was the main factors affecting the stability of molten steel pouring.By changing ladle lining to the Al2O3 refractory, the so called “3+1” operation was successfully realized, which means that the casting is made in sequence of three no-Ca treatment heats + one Ca treatment heat + three no-Ca treatment heats + one Ca treatment heat + . |
