Abstract Scope |
Optimization of the metal flow in the metallurgy processes prevents the improper behavior of the molten steel, and can lead to improved quality of the final product. The computational fluid dynamics (CFD) analyses are used here to understand the processes and optimize the velocity and stirring energy distribution to avoid the occurrence of the so-called dead zones and increase the cleanliness of molten steel. The flow behavior can be controlled by the proper selection of the electromagnetic stirrer parameters to increase the homogeneity of the structure and quality. Moreover, the inclusions behavior will be tracked and the multiphase approach will be presented. Finally, results indicating an increase in the effectiveness of the production of high quality steel without high energy consumption will be shown. |
