Abstract Scope |
In-situ neutron diffraction measurements on EBAM stainless steel with distinct post-processing treatments were completed during deformation on the SMARTS diffractometer at Los Alamos. Samples in the as-built condition and after hot-isostatic pressing (HIP) at 960C, 1060C and 1160C were deformed to ε ~ 0.13 while neutron diffraction patterns were collected. In addition, high-resolution diffraction patterns were collected before and after deformation. Macroscopic strength, lattice strains, texture, and dislocation density evolution will be presented. Possible interpretations of the observations in terms of the micromechanics of deformation and recovery of the material will be discussed. Taken as a whole, the data provides a relatively complete picture of the microstructure development during deposition, post-processing, and subsequent deformation toward the future development of microstructure aware process/structure/properties models. |
