Abstract Scope |
Experimental detection of chemical short-range ordering (CSRO), which involves highly localized atomic arrangements, has proven to be a difficult task. As a result, the majority of our current knowledge about CSRO comes from modeling and simulation studies. Consequently, there is a lack of solid experimental evidence regarding the precise formation of CSRO and its impact on the mechanical properties of CCAs. This study investigates the processing routes to induce CSRO in the CoCrNi alloy through various thermal treatments involving different temperatures, time, and cooling rates. The aim is to systematically examine the conditions under which CSRO formation occurs. The mechanical properties of the alloy were evaluated, and a detailed microstructural analysis was performed. The findings from these investigations will be discussed. Moreover, the influence of other factors, that vary with heat treatments, on the mechanical behavior will also be considered. Additionally, advanced microscopy results will be included in
