Abstract Scope |
Medium entropy Fe-Co-Ni-based alloys, with a limited presence of B element, belong to an innovative group of materials combining good magnetic properties with high thermal stability and durability. However, adding elements such as Al is advisable to adjust their properties for specific applications. This work describes the effect of Al addition on the structure, thermal stability, magnetic and durability properties. The materials in the form of powder were prepared by mechanical alloying and then densified in a 5-minute spark plasma sintering process at 1000°C. The sintering temperature corresponding to 0.7 melting point was determined using thermal analysis. The crystal structure of powder and bulk materials was determined by Wide-angle X-ray diffraction, X-ray microanalyses and transmission electron microscopy. Hardness and magnetic properties were described in the function of the Al addition. |
