Abstract Scope |
The microstructures of additively manufactured (AM) materials are often unique relative to conventionally processed materials. The AM microstructure could also vary significantly when using different AM processes. This presentation discusses how changing the manufacturing process from laser powder bed fusion (L-PBF) to electron-beam melting (EBM) influences the deformation mechanisms under quasi-static loading across different temperatures (ambient, 250, and 450 degrees Celsius). We specifically investigate deformation mechanisms responsible for differences in yield strength, strain hardening rate, and ductility as a function of temperature and specimen thicknesses manufactured by L-PBF and EBM. |
