Abstract Scope |
I was not always certain that I wanted to become a professor, even after completing my PhD. In fact, I was more confused about my career path toward the end of my PhD than before. However, identifying our personality and professional traits can help us determine which career direction to pursue. For example, for academic positions, enjoying teaching and mentoring is crucial and if you do not like teaching a classroom, an industry job might be more suitable. However, it is important to note that higher education also means greater responsibility, whether you are working in industry or academia. Managing a team, mentoring others, report writing, and generating new ideas are common job elements for a PhD holder in materials science and engineering. In this talk, I will share my post-PhD worldview and career journey, along with the key indicators that helped me decide on my career path. |
