Abstract Scope |
For almost 50 years, Westinghouse Electric Company (WEC) Hot Cell Facility at the Churchill R&D site has combined a wide array of hot cell and laboratory testing capabilities with experienced technician and engineering personnel. It is the only commercial industry Nuclear Science User Facilities (NSUF) Partner Laboratory, supporting both rapid turnaround projects and mid- to long-term research efforts, with a large in-house repository of archived radioactive material. Capabilities include in-cell machining, mechanical testing, microstructural characterization, nondestructive evaluation, spray coating, and analytical chemistry techniques. Radiological and cold autoclave facilities exist on site for corrosion evaluation. Whether it is a commercial, academic, or national laboratory partner, the WEC Churchill site has the experience and capability to design and fabricate custom hardware from and for irradiated materials testing. |
