Abstract Scope |
Wire arc additive manufacturing (WAAM), one of the oldest additive manufacturing (AM) techniques, has gained interest over the past decade due to its high deposition rate and lower cost compared to powder-based technologies.
This study focuses on the influence of microstructure on the mechanical properties of a precipitation-hardened nickel-based superalloy, Waspaloy, manufactured by CMT. Microstructural analyses and mechanical tests were performed. Based on these results and analysis, we generate equivalent 3D microstructures (digital twins) and identify the effects of size, texture, and morphologies on the mechanical properties of the material. To achieve this, simulations in crystal plasticity using our fast Fourier transform code were conducted." |
