Abstract Scope |
When taking magnified microscopy images, it is useful to be able to assemble them into full sample images for both quantitative and qualitative analysis. This process can be time consuming and still result in a final image with significant artifacts from the assembly process. We developed and open-sourced a program for image alignment and blending that makes the process much more efficient and includes functions for reducing the most common assembly artifacts. This enables accelerated characterization of metal AM parts via post facto metallography. Building off this work we would like to integrate the post processing tool with existing image analysis methods and further refine it to eliminate artificing that interferes with automated analysis, such as porosity calculations. |
