||Graphene/CuO and Reduced Graphene Oxide/CuO Hybrids for Field Emission

Graphene synthesized by most fabrication methods is planer graphene. However, flat graphene is not reliable to fabricate graphene-based field emitters with high current and low turn-on field. In order to mitigate this problem, non-planer graphene was prepared by fabricating graphene-based hybrids. In the present work, graphene was prepared by the chemical vapour deposition (CVD) method, while reduced graphene oxide (RGO) was prepared by solution-based chemical process. CVD-grown graphene was transferred, while GO (prepared by modified Hummer’s method) was dip-coated on CNTs grown on Cu foam. GO coated samples were thermally reduced to rGO. Field emission results showed that the field emission characteristics were significantly enhanced in graphene and RGO based hybrids. Compared to graphene transferred on CuO (G/CuO), the RGO deposited CuO (R/CuO) sample exhibited better field emission properties.
