Abstract Scope |
The replacement of natural gas by hydrogen in turbine system would offer greater energy efficiency but might impair the performance current MCrAlY bond coat due to higher flame temperature and water vapor. To address this issue, a new Hf-Y co-doped CoCrFeNiAl complex-concentrated alloy (CCA) has been developed as a promising substitute. In this work, the early stage (0-150 h) oxidation behavior of this novel CCA along with the state-of-art MCrAlY at 1150 ℃ with wet air has been investigated through isothermal oxidation tests. Post-mortem analysis including XRD, SEM and EDS has been conducted to explain the mechanism of outstanding oxidation resistance of this CCA, thus providing suggestions for developing the next generation bond coat materials. |
