Abstract Scope |
High entropy alloys (HEAs) have attracted widespread scientific and technological interest due to their superior properties compared to presently used metals. However, there is limited understanding of their deformation mechanisms, particularly as a function of temperature and strain rate. Here, the deformation behavior of several model HEAs were evaluated at different strain rates over a wide temperature range. Rigorous characterization in the form of spatially resolved nano-indentation was used to connect microstructural details to their behavior governing performance. Detailed analysis using in-situ videos were utilized to explain the differences in observed deformation behavior as a function of temperature. |
